Musnad Ahmad 32:733

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, he said: Thabit al-Bunani narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to break his fast with fresh dates before he prayed. If there were no fresh dates, then with dried dates. If there were no dried dates, then he would sip a few sips of water."
