Hadith 32:754
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Anas ibn Malik informed me, saying: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and he said: "A man from the people of Paradise will now emerge upon you." Then a man from the Ansar emerged, his beard dripping from his ablution, and he was holding his sandals in his left hand. When the next day came, the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said the same thing, and that man emerged just as he did the first time. When the third day came, the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said his statement again, and that man emerged in the same state as the first time. When the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stood up, 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As followed him and said: "I have quarreled with my father and swore that I would not enter upon him for three days. If you see fit to shelter me with you until they pass, would you do so?" He said: "Yes." Anas said: 'Abdullah used to narrate that he spent those three nights with him, and he did not see him stand for anything during the night, except that whenever he woke up and turned on his bed, he would remember Allah the Almighty and declare His greatness (Takbir) until he stood for the dawn prayer. 'Abdullah said: "However, I did not hear him say anything but good." When the three nights had passed and I almost belittled his deeds, I said: "O servant of Allah, there was no anger or estrangement between me and my father, but I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say to you three times: 'A man from the people of Paradise will now emerge upon you,' and you emerged all three times. So I wanted to shelter with you to see what your deed was, so that I could follow it, but I did not see you doing many deeds. So what is it that has brought you to what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said?" He said: "It is nothing but what you saw." He said: "When I turned to leave, he called me and said: 'It is nothing but what you saw, except that I do not find in myself any deceit toward any of the Muslims, nor do I envy anyone for any good that Allah has given him.'" 'Abdullah said: "This is what has brought you to this, and it is what we cannot endure."
