Hajjaj narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, he said: Sa’id—meaning al-Maqburi—narrated to me, from Sharik ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Namir, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up and warned the people. A man stood up and said: "When is the Hour, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) frowned in his face. We said to him: "Sit down, for you have asked the Messenger of Allah what he dislikes." Then he stood up a second time and said: "O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) frowned in his face more severely than the first time. We made him sit down. Then he stood up a third time and said: "O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: "Woe to you, and what have you prepared for it?" The man said: "I have prepared for it the love of Allah and His Messenger." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: "Sit down, for you are with whom you love."
