Musnad Ahmad 32:82

Ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas, who said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) set out for Badr, he went forth and consulted the people. Abu Bakr advised him, then he consulted them, and ‘Umar advised him, then he remained silent." A man from the Ansar said: "He only intends [to consult] you." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, we will not be as the Children of Israel said to Moses: 'Go you and your Lord and fight, while we are sitting right here.' Rather, by Allah, if you were to strike their flanks until you reached Bark al-Ghimad, we would be with you."
