Musnad Ahmad 32:833

Bahz narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not practice *wisal* (continuous fasting without breaking it at night)." They said: "But you practice *wisal*." He said: "You are not like me in that regard; I spend my day—or he said: I spend my night—being fed and given to drink."
