Musnad Ahmad 32:881

Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Harb ibn Maymun Abu al-Khattab al-Ansari narrated to us, from al-Nadr ibn Anas, from Anas, who said: The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) narrated to me: "I am standing, waiting for my nation to cross the Sirat (bridge), when Jesus came to me and said: 'These prophets have come to you, O Muhammad, asking'—or he said: 'gathering to you'—'and they are supplicating to Allah to separate the gathering of the nations to wherever Allah wills, due to the distress they are in, for the creation is bridled in sweat. As for the believer, it is upon him like a cold, and as for the disbeliever, death covers him.'" He said: "Jesus said: 'Wait until I return to you.' He said: So the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) went until he stood beneath the Throne, and he encountered what no chosen angel or sent prophet had encountered. Then Allah revealed to Gabriel: 'Go to Muhammad and say to him: Raise your head, ask and you shall be given, intercede and your intercession shall be accepted.'" He said: "So I interceded for my nation, that from every ninety-nine people, one be brought out. He said: I kept returning to my Lord, and I would not stand in a station except that I interceded, until Allah gave me of that, such that He said: 'O Muhammad, admit from your nation whom Allah has created, who testified that there is no god but Allah for one day, sincerely, and died upon that.'"
