Hadith 912:3
Suwayd ibn Sa'id narrated to us, in the year two hundred and twenty-six, Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said: Umar delivered a sermon to us upon the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "Ali is the best of us in judgment, and Ubayy is the best of us in recitation. Yet, we leave out some of what Ubayy says, even though Ubayy heard things from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. And Ubayy says: 'I will not leave out what I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,' while a Book has been revealed after Ubayy."
حدثنا سويد بن سعيد، في سنة ست وعشرين ومائتين، حدثنا علي بن مسهر، عن الأعمش، عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس، قال: خطبنا عمر، على منبر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: "علي أقضانا، وأبي أقرؤنا، وإنا لندع من قول أبي شيئا، وإن أبيا سمع من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أشياء وأبي، يقول: لا أدع ما سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد نزل بعد أبي كتاب "
