Musnad Ahmad 478:8

Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Muqri narrated to us, Haywah narrated to us, Ayyash ibn Abbas informed me, that Kulayb ibn Subh narrated to him, that al-Zibriqan narrated to him, from his uncle Amr ibn Umayyah al-Damri, who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on one of his journeys, and they slept through the morning prayer until the sun rose; they did not wake up. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began with the two rak'ahs, so he performed them, then he called for the prayer (iqamah) and prayed." Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us—Abu Abd al-Rahman said: And I heard it myself from Abdullah ibn Abi Shaybah in Kufa—he said: Ja'far ibn 'Awn narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Isma'il, who said: Ja'far ibn Amr ibn Umayyah informed me, from his father, "that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent him alone as a scout to the Quraysh." He said: "I came to the wooden post of Khubayb while I was fearing the scouts, so I climbed it and untied Khubayb, and he fell to the ground. I moved away not far, then I turned around, and I did not see Khubayb, as if the earth had swallowed him. No trace of Khubayb has been seen until this hour." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: "He said to us regarding it: 'From al-Zuhri,' but as for my father, he narrated it to us from him without mentioning al-Zuhri. And Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated it to us in Kufa, and he attributed it for us to al-Zuhri."
