Musnad Ahmad 1118:12

Abu Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Haywah and Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, they said: Abu Hani' informed us that Abu Ali al-Janbi narrated to him that he heard Fudalah ibn Ubayd narrating from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said: "Whoever dies upon a rank of these ranks, he will be resurrected upon it on the Day of Resurrection." *** Umar ibn Ali al-Muqaddami narrated to us, he said: I heard Hajjaj mentioning from Makhul, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhayriz, he said: I said to Fudalah ibn Ubayd: "Do you see the hanging of the thief's hand around the neck, is it from the Sunnah?" He said: "Yes, I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, a thief was brought to him, so he ordered him, and his hand was cut off, then he ordered it and it was hung around his neck." Hajjaj said: "And Fudalah was among those who pledged allegiance under the tree." Abu Abd al-Rahman Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: "I said to Yahya ibn Ma'in: 'Did you hear anything from Umar ibn Ali al-Muqaddami?' He said: 'What did he have?' I said: 'The hadith of Fudalah ibn Ubayd regarding the hanging of the hand.' He said: 'No. Affan narrated it to us from him.'"
