Musnad Ahmad 119:2

Jarir narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Mujahid, who said: There was a man from the Emigrants (Muhajirun) called Abd al-Rahman ibn Safwan, and he had a good record in Islam, and he was a friend of al-Abbas. When the day of the conquest of Mecca arrived, he brought his father to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, accept his pledge of allegiance for migration (Hijrah)." He refused and said: "There is no migration." So he went to al-Abbas while he was at the Siqayah (the place of providing water to pilgrims) and said: "O Abu al-Fadl, I brought my father to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for him to accept his pledge of allegiance for migration, but he refused." He said: So al-Abbas stood up with him, and he did not have his outer garment on, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, you know the relationship between me and so-and-so, and he brought his father to you for you to accept his pledge of allegiance for migration, but you refused." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "There is no migration." Al-Abbas said: "I adjure you to accept his pledge." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stretched out his hand and said: "Bring him; I have fulfilled the oath of my uncle, but there is no migration."
