Hadith of Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasanah (RA)
Hadith 540:3
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from al-A'mash, and Waki' narrated to us, he said: Al-A'mash narrated to me—the meaning—from Zayd ibn Wahb, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasana—Waki' said: al-Juhani—he said: We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and we were struck by famine. We descended upon a land with many dabb (lizards), so we took some of them and cooked them in our pots. We asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said: "A nation that was lost—or transformed (Yahya was in doubt, and Allah knows best)." He ordered us, so we overturned the pots. Waki' said: "Transformed, and I fear that these might be them." So we overturned them while we were hungry.
