### The Hadith of Abd al-Rahman ibn Shibl Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Zayd ibn Salam, from his grandfather, who said: Mu'awiyah wrote to Abd al-Rahman ibn Shibl to teach the people what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. So he gathered them and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "Learn the Quran, and when you have learned it, do not exceed the limits in it, do not neglect it, do not consume [wealth] by means of it, and do not seek to increase [your worldly status] through it." Then he said: "Indeed, the merchants are the wicked ones." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, has Allah not permitted trade and forbidden usury?" He said: "Yes, but they swear oaths and commit sins." Then he said: "Indeed, the corrupt ones are the people of the Fire." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, and who are the corrupt ones?" He said: "The women." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, are they not our mothers, our daughters, and our sisters?" He said: "Yes, but when they are given, they are not grateful, and when they are tested, they are not patient." Then he said: "The rider should greet the walker, the walker should greet the one sitting, and the fewer should greet the more numerous. Whoever responds to the greeting, it is for him, and whoever does not respond, there is nothing for him."
