Hadith 769:22

Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Malik—meaning Ibn Mughawwil—said: Talhah informed me, he said: I said to Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa: "Did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, make a will?" He said: "No." I said: "Then how did he command the believers to make a will, yet he did not make a will?" He said: "He bequeathed the Book of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic."

حدثنا حجاج قال: قال مالك يعني ابن مغول، أخبرني طلحة قال: قلت لعبد الله بن أبي أوفى: أوصى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ قال: لا، قلت: فكيف أمر المؤمنين بالوصية ولم يوص؟ قال: " أوصى بكتاب الله عز وجل "
