Musnad Ahmad 660:2

Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Salih, who said: Ibn Shihab said: Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman informed me that 'Abd Allah ibn 'Adi ibn al-Hamra' informed him that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was standing at al-Hazwarah in Makkah, saying to Makkah: "By Allah, you are indeed the best of Allah's earth, and the most beloved of Allah's earth to Allah, the Almighty and Majestic. And were it not that I was driven out of you, I would not have left."
