Musnad Ahmad 1098:4

Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Yahya ibn Ya’la Abu Muhayya al-Taymi narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn ‘Umayr, the son of the brother of ‘Abdullah ibn Salam narrated to me, from ‘Abdullah ibn Salam, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and my name was not ‘Abdullah ibn Salam, so the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, named me ‘Abdullah ibn Salam. *** Harun ibn Ma’ruf narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, ‘Amr ibn al-Harith narrated to us, from Sa’id ibn Abi Hilal, that Yahya ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to him, from ‘Awn ibn ‘Abdullah, from Yusuf ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Salam, from his father, who said: While we were traveling with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, the people heard [someone] saying: "Which deeds are best, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Faith in Allah and His Messenger, and Jihad in the way of Allah, and an accepted Hajj." Then he heard a call in the valley saying: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "And I bear witness, and I bear witness that no one bears witness to it except that he is free from polytheism." ‘Abdullah said: And I heard it myself from Harun.
