Hadith of Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa (RA)

Hadith 775:15

Yazid narrated to us, Mas'udi informed us, from Ibrahim Abu Isma'il al-Saksaki, from Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, who said: A man came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: "O Messenger of God, I cannot recite the Quran, so command me with what will suffice me of it." The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to him: "Say: Praise be to God (Al-hamdu lillah), and Glory be to God (Subhan Allah), and there is no god but God (La ilaha illa Allah), and God is the Greatest (Allahu Akbar), and there is no power and no strength except by God (La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah)." The man said it, and he closed his palm, counting five with his thumb. Then he said: "O Messenger of God, this is for God the Exalted, so what is for myself?" He said: "Say: O God, forgive me, and have mercy on me, and grant me well-being, and guide me, and provide for me." He said: So he said it, and he closed his other palm, counting five with his thumb. The man departed having closed both his palms. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "He has filled his palms with good."
