Hadith of Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa (RA)

حديث عبد الله بن أبي أوفى

Hadith 775:19

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Shaybani, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was on a journey while he was fasting. He asked the person in charge of his drink for a drink. The person in charge of his drink said: "If you were to wait until evening, O Messenger of Allah." Then he asked him again, and he said to him: "If you were to wait until evening." [He said this] three times. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: "When the night comes from here, then breaking the fast is permitted," or a word with this meaning.
