Musnad Ahmad 775:23

'Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, al-Hajari informed us, he said: I went out for the funeral of the daughter of 'Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, and he was upon a mule of his that was *hawwa'*, meaning black. He said: The women began saying to his leader, "Move it ahead of the funeral procession," and he did so. He said: I heard him say to him, "Where is the funeral procession?" He said: He replied, "Behind you." He said: He did that once or twice, then he said, "Did I not forbid you from putting me ahead of the funeral procession?" He said: Then he heard a woman wailing—and he said once: lamenting—so he said, "Desist! Did I not forbid you from this? For the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to forbid lamentations. Let one of you shed from her tears whatever she wishes." When the funeral procession was placed down, he stepped forward and pronounced four *takbirs* over her. Then he stood for a short while, and some of the people prompted him with *tasbih*, so he turned away and said, "Did you think that I would pronounce a fifth *takbir*?" They said, "Yes." He said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to, when he pronounced the fourth *takbir*, stand for a short while." When the funeral procession was placed down, he sat and we sat with him. He was asked about the meat of domestic donkeys, and he said: We encountered domestic donkeys on the day of Khaybar outside of the village, so the people fell upon them and slaughtered them. The pots were boiling with some of them when the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called out, "Spill them out." So we spilled them out. And I saw upon 'Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa a garment (*mutraf*) made of green silk (*khazz*).
