Musnad Ahmad 284:33

Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Thawir, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, while he was on the pulpit, saying: "This is the day of Ashura, so fast it, for the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, commanded its fasting."
