Hadith of Abu Abd al-Rahman Safinah, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (SAW).
حديث أبي عبد الرحمن سفينة مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
Hadith 949:12
Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, Abu Rayhanah narrated to me—and Ali named him Abdullah ibn Matar—he said: Safinah, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, informed me: "That the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would perform ablution (wudu) with a mudd, and he would wash [his body] from major ritual impurity (janabah) with a sa'."
حدثنا علي بن عاصم، حدثني أبو ريحانة، " وسماه علي عبد الله بن مطر " قال: أخبرني سفينة مولى رسول الله، صلى الله عليه وسلم: " أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يوضئه المد، ويغسله الصاع من الجنابة "
