Hadith 1301:24

Ali ibn Bahr narrated to us, he said: Baqiyyah narrated to us, he said: Thabit ibn ‘Ajlan narrated to us, he said: Al-Qasim, the freed slave of Banu Yazid, narrated to me, from Abu al-Darda’, that a man passed by him while he was planting a plant in Damascus. He said to him: "Do you do this while you are a companion of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" He said: "Do not be hasty with me. I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'Whoever plants a plant, no human nor any of the creations of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, eats from it, except that it is a charity for him.'" ‘Abdullah said: My father said: He said: Al-Ashja‘i, meaning from Sufyan, from Al-A‘mash, from Abu Ziyad: "I entered the mosque of Damascus..."
