Musnad Ahmad 108:6

It was read to Ya’qub in the *Maghazi* (military expeditions) of his father, from Ibn Ishaq. Ibn Ishaq said: Buraydah ibn Sufyan al-Aslami narrated to me, from some of the men of Banu Salamah, from Abu al-Yusr Ka’b ibn ‘Amr, who said: By Allah, we were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, at Khaybar one evening, when some sheep belonging to a man from the Jews approached, heading toward their fortress, while we were besieging them. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Who is a man that will feed us from these sheep?" Abu al-Yusr said: I said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Then do so." He said: So I went out, running fast like an ostrich. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saw me turning away, he said: "O Allah, let us enjoy his company (let him live long)." He said: I caught up with the sheep, and their front had already entered the fortress. I took two sheep from the rear and held them under my arms, then I came back with them, running as if I had nothing with me, until I threw them down before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. They slaughtered them and ate them. Abu al-Yusr was among the last of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to pass away. Whenever he would narrate this hadith, he would weep, then say: "They were granted enjoyment of me; by my life, I was the last of them."
