Musnad Ahmad 460:1

'Abd al-Samad ibn 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, he said: Malik ibn Mighwal narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Mudrik narrated to us, from Abu 'Amir al-Ash'ari, he said: A man was killed among them at Awtas, so the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "O Abu 'Amir, did you not change [the situation]?" He recited this verse: "O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves; those who go astray will not harm you when you have been guided" [Al-Ma'idah: 105]. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, became angry and said: "Where have you gone? It is only: 'O you who have believed, those who go astray from among the disbelievers will not harm you when you have been guided.'"
