Musnad Ahmad 1060:2

Hassan ibn Musa narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Huyayy ibn Abdullah al-Ma'afiri narrated to us, from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli, who said: We were at sea, and Abdullah ibn Qays al-Fazari was in command over us, and Abu Ayyub al-Ansari was with us. He passed by the person in charge of the spoils, who had set up the captives. There was a woman weeping. He asked, "What is the matter with her?" They said, "They separated her from her child." He said, so he took the child by the hand until he placed him in her hand. The person in charge of the spoils went to Abdullah ibn Qays and informed him. He sent for Abu Ayyub and said, "What compelled you to do what you did?" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'Whoever separates a mother from her child, Allah will separate him from his loved ones on the Day of Resurrection.'"
