Musnad Ahmad 1060:26

'Affan narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, 'Asim narrated to us, from a man from the people of Makkah, that Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah was the commander of the army in which Abu Ayyub participated in the military expedition. When he (Abu Ayyub) was dying, he entered upon him. Abu Ayyub said to him: "When I die, convey my greeting (salam) to the people from me, and inform them that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Whoever dies without associating anything with Allah, Allah will place him in Paradise.' And let them take me and carry me as far as they can into the land of the Romans." So, when Abu Ayyub died, he (Yazid) informed the people. The people donned their armor, and they set out with his funeral procession.
