Musnad Ahmad 789:33

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, 'Awf narrated to us, from Abu al-Minhal, who said: My father said to me, "Go to Abu Barzah al-Aslami." So I went with him until we entered upon him in his house, and he was sitting in the shade of a loft made of reeds. We sat with him on a day of intense heat. My father asked him, "Tell me, how did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pray the obligatory prayers?" He said, "He used to pray the *Hajir*—which you call the *Ula* (Dhuhr)—when the sun passed the meridian. And he used to pray the *Asr*, then one of us would return to his dwelling at the farthest end of Medina while the sun was still bright." He said: And I forgot what he said regarding the *Maghrib*. He said: "And he used to like to delay the *Isha*, which you call the *Atamah*. And he used to dislike sleeping before it and talking after it." He said: "And he would finish the morning prayer when one of us could recognize the person sitting next to him, and he would recite between sixty to one hundred verses."
