Musnad Ahmad 789:45

'Abd al-Samad and Yunus narrated to us, they said: Hammad—meaning Ibn Salamah—narrated to us, from al-Azraq ibn Qays, that Sharik ibn Shihab—Yunus said: al-Harithi, and this is the hadith of 'Abd al-Samad—said: "I wish I had seen a man from the companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who would narrate to me about the Khawarij." He said: So I met Abu Barzah among a group of the companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I said: "Narrate to me something you heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, regarding the Khawarij." He said: "I will narrate to you something my ears heard and my eyes saw. Gold coins were brought to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he distributed them. There was a man there with cropped hair, dark-skinned or black, with the mark of prostration between his eyes, wearing two white garments. He began coming to him from his right side and presenting himself to him, but he did not give him anything. He said: 'O Muhammad, you have not been just in the distribution today.' He became intensely angry, then said: 'By Allah, you will not find anyone after me who is more just to you than I am,' three times. Then he said: 'There will emerge from the direction of the east men whose guidance is like this—they recite the Qur'an, but it does not pass beyond their collarbones. They will pass through the religion just as an arrow passes through the game, then they will not return to it. Their sign is shaving [the head]. They will continue to emerge until the last of them emerges with the Dajjal. So if you meet them, kill them; they are the worst of the creation and the creatures.'"
