Hadith 940:11
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn Sa'id, [who said]: The freed slave of Ibn 'Ayyash narrated to me, from Abu Bahriyyah. And Makki narrated to us, [who said]: 'Abdullah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Ziyad ibn Abi Ziyad, from Abu Bahriyyah, from Abu al-Darda', who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Shall I not inform you of the best of your deeds, [Makki said: and the purest of them] with your Sovereign, and the highest of them in your ranks, and better for you than giving gold and silver, and better for you than that you encounter your enemy, so you strike their necks and they strike your necks?" They said: "And what is that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The remembrance of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، عن عبد الله بن سعيد، حدثني مولى ابن عياش، عن أبي بحرية، وحدثنا مكي، حدثنا عبد الله بن سعيد، عن زياد بن أبي زياد، عن أبي بحرية، عن أبي الدرداء، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ألا أنبئكم بخير أعمالكم، قال مكي: وأزكاها، عند مليككم، وأرفعها في درجاتكم، وخير لكم من إعطاء الذهب والورق، وخير لكم من أن تلقوا عدوكم، فتضربوا أعناقهم ويضربوا أعناقكم " قالوا: وذلك ما هو يا رسول الله؟ قال: " ذكر الله عز وجل "
