Hadith 940:24
Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, 'Asim ibn Raja' ibn Haywah informed us, from Qays ibn Kathir, who said: A man came from Medina to Abu al-Darda' while he was in Damascus. He said, "What brought you, O my brother?" He said, "A hadith that reached me which you narrate from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He said, "Did you not come for trade?" He said, "No." He said, "Did you not come for a need?" He said, "No." He said, "Did you not come except to seek this hadith?" He said, "Yes." He said, "For I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'Whoever follows a path seeking knowledge therein, Allah will cause him to follow a path to Paradise. Indeed, the angels lower their wings in contentment for the seeker of knowledge. Indeed, whoever is in the heavens and the earth seeks forgiveness for the scholar, even the fish in the water. The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the moon over the rest of the stars. Indeed, the scholars are the heirs of the prophets; they did not bequeath a dinar or a dirham, but they bequeathed knowledge. So whoever takes it, has taken an abundant portion.'"
حدثنا محمد بن يزيد، أخبرنا عاصم بن رجاء بن حيوة، عن قيس بن كثير، قال: قدم رجل من المدينة إلى أبي الدرداء، وهو بدمشق، فقال: ما أقدمك، أي أخي؟ قال: حديث بلغني أنك تحدث به عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ قال: أما قدمت لتجارة؟ قال: لا. قال: أما قدمت لحاجة؟ قال: لا. قال: ما قدمت إلا في طلب هذا الحديث؟ قال: نعم، قال: فإني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " من سلك طريقا يطلب فيه علما سلك الله به طريقا إلى الجنة، وإن الملائكة لتضع أجنحتها رضا لطالب العلم، وإنه ليستغفر للعالم من في السماوات والأرض، حتى الحيتان في الماء، وفضل العالم على العابد كفضل القمر على سائر الكواكب، إن العلماء هم ورثة الأنبياء، لم يورثوا دينارا ولا درهما، وإنما ورثوا العلم، فمن أخذ به، أخذ بحظ وافر " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
