Hadith 940:26
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, who said: I heard Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami narrating that a man was ordered by his mother, or his father, or both of them—Shu'bah said: He says that—to divorce his wife. So he made it incumbent upon himself to free one hundred slaves. He came to Abu al-Darda', and he was praying the Duha prayer, lengthening it, and he prayed between the Dhuhr and the 'Asr. He asked him, and Abu al-Darda' said to him: "Fulfill your vow, and be dutiful to your parents, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'The father is the middle gate of Paradise; so maintain the father, or leave it.'"
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، حدثنا شعبة، عن عطاء بن السائب، قال: سمعت أبا عبد الرحمن السلمي، يحدث أن رجلا أمرته أمه أو أبوه أو كلاهما، قال: شعبة يقول ذلك، أن يطلق امرأته، فجعل عليه مائة محرر، فأتى أبا الدرداء، فإذا هو يصلي الضحى يطيلها، وصلى ما بين الظهر والعصر ، فسأله، فقال له أبو الدرداء: أوف نذرك، وبر والديك، إني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " الوالد أوسط باب الجنة " فحافظ على الوالد أو اترك
