Hadith 940:28
'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Habibah al-Ta'i, who said: My brother bequeathed to me a portion of his wealth. He said: So I met Abu al-Darda' and said: "My brother bequeathed to me a portion of his wealth, so where should I place it? Among the poor, or among the mujahidin, or among the needy?" He said: "As for me, if it were me, I would not equate anyone with the mujahidin. I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'The likeness of one who emancipates [a slave] at the time of death is like the likeness of one who gives a gift when he is full.'"
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ، عن سفيان، عن أبي إسحاق، عن أبي حبيبة الطائي، قال: أوصى إلي أخي بطائفة من ماله، قال: فلقيت أبا الدرداء، فقلت: إن أخي أوصاني بطائفة من ماله، فأين أضعه، في الفقراء، أو في المجاهدين، أو في المساكين؟ قال: أما أنا فلو كنت، لم أعدل بالمجاهدين، سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " مثل الذي يعتق عند الموت مثل الذي يهدي إذا شبع "
