Hadith of Abu Darda (RA)

Hadith 940:36

Ishaq ibn Isa narrated to us, Anas ibn Iyad al-Laythi Abu Damra narrated to me, from Musa ibn Uqbah, from Ali ibn Abdullah al-Azdi, from Abu al-Darda, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Allah the Almighty and Majestic said: 'Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah' [Fatir: 32]. As for those who were foremost in good deeds, they are those who will enter Paradise without reckoning. As for those who were moderate, they are those who will have an easy reckoning. As for those who wronged themselves, they are those who will be reckoned throughout the length of the Gathering (al-Mahshar). Then, they are the ones whom Allah will overtake with His mercy, and they are the ones who will say: 'Praise to Allah, who has removed from us [all] sorrow. Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative' [Fatir: 34], up to His saying: '...nor does there touch us fatigue' [Fatir: 35]."
