Waki’ narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from ‘Abdullah ibn al-Samit, from Abu Dharr, who said: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about the solid black dog. He said: "A devil."
