Musnad Ahmad 937:161

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Rashid narrated to us, from Makhul, from a man, from Abu Dharr, who said: A man called 'Ukkaf ibn Bishr al-Tamimi entered upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "O 'Ukkaf, do you have a wife?" He said: No. He said: "Nor a slave girl?" He said: Nor a slave girl. He said: "And you are well-off?" He said: I am well-off. He said: "Then you are one of the brothers of the devils. If you were among the Christians, you would be one of their monks. Indeed, our Sunnah is marriage. The worst of you are your bachelors, and the most wretched of your dead are your bachelors. Do you practice with the devil? The devil has no weapon more effective against the righteous than women, except for the married ones; those are the purified, the ones cleared of indecency. Woe to you, O 'Ukkaf! They are the companions of Ayyub, Dawud, Yusuf, and Kirsaf." Bishr ibn 'Atiyyah said to him: And who is Kirsaf, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "A man who worshipped Allah on a coast of the sea coasts for three hundred years, fasting the day and standing in prayer the night. Then he disbelieved in Allah the Great because of a woman he fell in love with, and he abandoned what he was upon of the worship of Allah. Then Allah caught up with him through some of what he had done, so He accepted his repentance. Woe to you, O 'Ukkaf, marry, or else you are among the waverers." He said: Marry me, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "I have married you to Karimah bint Kulthum al-Himyari."
