Hadith of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (RA)
Hadith 937:181
'Affan narrated to us, Abu al-Ashhab narrated to us, Khulayd al-'Asri narrated to us. Abu Jurayy said: "Where did you meet Khulayd?" He said: "I do not know." From al-Ahnaf ibn Qays, he said: I was sitting with some people from Quraysh when Abu Dharr came until he was near them. He said: "Let the hoarders be given glad tidings of a branding on their backs that will come out from their bellies, and a branding on their napes that will come out from their foreheads." He said: Then he moved aside and sat down. He said: I said: "Who is this?" They said: "Abu Dharr." He said: So I stood up to him and said: "What is this thing I heard you calling out?" He said: "I did not say anything to them except something they had already heard from their Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He said: I said to him: "What do you say about this gift (stipend)?" He said: "Take it, for there is assistance in it today. But if it becomes a price for your religion, then leave it."
