Musnad Ahmad 937:250

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Musa—meaning Ibn al-Musayyab al-Thaqafi—narrated to us, from Shahr, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanam al-Ash'ari, from Abu Dharr, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: "Indeed, Allah says: 'O My servants, all of you are sinners except for those whom I have pardoned, so seek My forgiveness and I will forgive you. And whoever among you knows that I have the power to forgive and seeks My forgiveness by My power, I will forgive him and I do not care. All of you are astray except for those whom I have guided, so ask Me for guidance and I will guide you. All of you are poor except for those whom I have enriched, so ask Me and I will provide for you. If your living and your dead, your first and your last, your moist and your dry, were to gather upon the heart of the most pious servant among My servants, it would not increase My dominion by the wing of a mosquito. And if your living and your dead, your first and your last, your moist and your dry, were to gather, and every petitioner among them were to ask for what his desire reached, and I were to give every petitioner what he asked for, it would not decrease what I have, except as if one of you were to pass by the edge of the sea, then dipped a needle and withdrew it. That is because I am Generous, Glorious, and All-Finding. I do what I will. My giving is speech, and My punishment is speech. If I desire a thing, I only say to it: "Be," and it is.'"
