Musnad Ahmad 937:3

Al-Hakam ibn Nafi’ Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Isma’il ibn ‘Ayyash informed us, from ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Husayn, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanam, from Abu Dharr, who said: I used to serve the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Then, when I finished my work, I would come to the mosque and lie down in it. One day, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came to me while I was lying down, and he nudged me with his foot. I sat up, and he said to me: "O Abu Dharr, what will you do when you are driven out of it [the city]?" I said: "I will return to the mosque of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and to my house." He said: "And what will you do when you are driven out of it?" I said: "Then I will take my sword and strike with it whoever drives me out." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, placed his hand on my shoulder and said: "Forgiveness, O Abu Dharr," three times. "Rather, you shall be led with them wherever they lead you, and you shall be driven with them wherever they drive you, even if it is a black slave." Abu Dharr said: "When I was exiled to al-Rabadhah, the prayer was called, and a black man who was in charge of the charity camels there stepped forward. When he saw me, he moved to step back so that he could let me lead, but I said: 'Stay as you are; rather, I will submit to the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.'"
