Musnad Ahmad 937:59

Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, al-A’mash narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Abu Dharr, who said: I was walking with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the rocky terrain of Medina at night, and we were looking at Uhud. He said: "O Abu Dharr." I said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "It would not please me to have an amount of gold equal to Uhud, such that three nights pass and I still have a dinar of it remaining, except for a dinar that I set aside for a debt, unless I were to distribute it among the servants of Allah like this, and like this, and like this," and he gestured to his right, in front of him, and to his left. He said: Then we walked, and he said: "O Abu Dharr, the wealthy ones are the least in number on the Day of Resurrection, except for those who said like this, and like this, and like this," and he gestured to his right, in front of him, and to his left. He said: Then we walked, and he said: "O Abu Dharr, stay where you are until I come to you." He said: So he went off until he disappeared from my sight. He said: Then I heard a clamor and a sound. He said: I said to myself, perhaps something has happened to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He said: I intended to follow him, then I remembered his saying: "Do not leave until I come to you," so I waited for him until he came. I mentioned to him what I had heard, and he said: "That was Gabriel who came to me and said: 'Whoever among your nation dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise.'" I said: "Even if he committed adultery and even if he stole?" He said: "Even if he committed adultery and even if he stole."
