Hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa‘idi (RA)
Hadith 1061:1
Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, who heard Urwah saying: Abu Humayd al-Sa’idi informed us, saying: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, employed a man from Azd, who was called Ibn al-Lutbiyyah, to collect charity. He came and said: "This is for you, and this was gifted to me." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood upon the pulpit and said: "What is the matter with a worker whom we send, and he comes and says: 'This is for you, and this was gifted to me'? Would he not have sat in the house of his father and his mother to see if it would be gifted to him or not? By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one among you will take anything from it except that he will come with it on the Day of Resurrection upon his neck; if it is a camel, it will have a grunting sound, or if it is a cow, it will have a lowing sound, or if it is a sheep, it will have a bleating sound." Then he raised his hands until we saw the whiteness of his armpits, and then he said: "O Allah, have I conveyed?" three times. Hisham ibn Urwah added: Abu Humayd said: "My ears heard it and my eyes saw it, and ask Zayd ibn Thabit."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
