Hadith of Abu Humayd al-Sa‘idi (RA)
Hadith 1061:8
Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Bilal narrated to us, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa’id, from Abu Humayd al-Sa’idi, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "It is not lawful for a person to take the wealth of his brother without his right." And that is because Allah has made the wealth of a Muslim unlawful for another Muslim. And ‘Ubayd ibn Abi Qurrah said: Sulayman narrated to us, Suhayl narrated to me, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa’id narrated to me, from Abu Humayd al-Sa’idi, that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "It is not lawful for a man to take the staff of his brother without his willing consent." And that is due to the severity of what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) declared regarding the unlawfulness of a Muslim’s wealth for another Muslim.
