Hadith of Abu Juhayfah (RA)

Hadith 669:20

Waki’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, ‘Awn ibn Abi Juhayfah narrated to me, from his father, who said: "I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, at al-Abtah, and he was in a red tent of his." He said: "Then Bilal came out with the remainder of his ablution water, and the people were taking it and splashing it on themselves. Then Bilal gave the call to prayer, and I began to follow his mouth like this and like that—meaning to the right and to the left." He said: "Then a short spear (*‘anzah*) was planted for him. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came out wearing a red *jubbah* (outer garment) of his, or a red *hullah* (suit), and it is as if I am looking at the sheen of his shins. He led us in prayer facing the spear—the Dhuhr or the ‘Asr—two rak'ahs. A woman, a dog, and a donkey would pass by, and he would not prevent them. Then he continued to pray two rak'ahs until he reached Medina." Waki’ said once: "He prayed Dhuhr as two rak'ahs and ‘Asr as two rak'ahs."
