Hadith of Abu Kabshah al-Anmari (RA)

Hadith 596:7

Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, Ubadah ibn Muslim narrated to us, Yunus ibn Khabbab narrated to me, from Sa’id Abu al-Bakhtari al-Ta’i, from Abu Kabshah al-Anmari, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Three things I swear upon, and I will tell you a hadith, so memorize it." He said: "As for the three things I swear upon: Wealth of a servant never decreases due to charity, no servant is wronged with an injustice and he bears it patiently except that Allah increases him in honor because of it, and no servant opens a door of begging except that Allah opens for him a door of poverty. And as for the hadith I will tell you, memorize it." He said: "The world is only for four types of people: A servant whom Allah has provided with wealth and knowledge, so he fears his Lord regarding it, maintains his ties of kinship with it, and knows that Allah has a right in it. This person is in the best of stations." He said: "And a servant whom Allah has provided with knowledge but has not provided with wealth?" He said: "He says: 'If I had wealth, I would have acted like so-and-so.' So their reward is equal." He said: "And a servant whom Allah has provided with wealth but has not provided with knowledge, so he spends his wealth recklessly without knowledge, does not fear his Lord regarding it, does not maintain his ties of kinship with it, and does not know that Allah has a right in it. This person is in the worst of stations." He said: "And a servant whom Allah has not provided with wealth nor knowledge, so he says: 'If I had wealth, I would have acted like so-and-so.' He said: 'It is his intention, so their burden of sin is equal.'"
