Musnad Ahmad 1015:10

Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Aban ibn Yazid informed me, and 'Affan narrated to us, he said: Aban ibn Yazid informed us, Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Sallam, from Abu Sallam, from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Purification is half of faith, and 'Al-hamdu lillah' (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale." 'Affan said: "And 'Subhan Allah' (Exalted is Allah) and 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), and 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but Allah) and 'Allahu Akbar' fill what is between the heaven—and 'Affan said: what is between the heavens—and the earth." "And prayer is a light, and charity is a proof, and patience is a radiance, and the Quran is an argument for you or against you. Every person goes out in the morning, so he either sells his soul, thereby destroying it, or freeing it."
