Musnad Ahmad 1015:16

'Affan narrated to us, Aban narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated to me, from Zayd, from Abu Sallam, from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say: "Purity is half of faith, and 'Al-hamdu lillah' (all praise is due to Allah) fills the scale, and 'Subhan Allah' (glory be to Allah) and 'Al-hamdu lillah' (all praise is due to Allah) and 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the greatest) fill what is between the heavens and the earth. Prayer is a light, charity is a proof, patience is a radiance, and the Quran is an argument for you or against you. Every person goes out in the morning, so he either sells his soul and sets it free, or he ruins it."
