Musnad Ahmad 788:179

'Affan narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Jahadah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Tharwan, from al-Hudhayl ibn Shurahbil, from Abu Musa, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: "Break your bows, and cut your bowstrings"—meaning during the tribulation (fitnah)—"and remain in the innermost parts of your houses, and be in them like the better of the two sons of Adam."
