Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (RA)
Hadith 788:255
Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, he said: Umar ibn Ali ibn Muqaddam narrated to us, he said: Abu Umays narrated to us, from Sa’id ibn Abi Burdah, from his father, from Abu Musa al-Ash’ari, who said: Some people from the Ash’ari tribe came to me and said: "Go with us to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), for we have a need." He said: So I stood up with them, and they said: "O Messenger of Allah, seek our help in your work." I apologized to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for what they had said, and I said: "I did not know what their need was." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) believed me and excused me, and he said: "We do not seek the help of one who asks us for it in our work."
