Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (RA)

Hadith 788:256

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Sa‘id ibn Abi Burdah, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent Abu Musa and Mu‘adh ibn Jabal to Yemen, and he said to them: "Make things easy and do not make them difficult, give glad tidings and do not drive people away, and cooperate with one another." Abu Musa said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land where a drink is made from honey called *al-bit‘*, and a drink is made from barley called *al-mizr*." He said: So the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Every intoxicant is forbidden."
