Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (RA)

Hadith 788:257

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Ziyad ibn ‘Alaqah, he said: A man from my people narrated to me—Shu‘bah said: I used to memorize his name—he said: We were at the door of ‘Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, waiting for permission to enter upon him. I heard Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari saying: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "The destruction of my nation is by stabbing (al-ta‘n) and the plague (al-ta‘un)." We said: O Messenger of Allah, this stabbing (al-ta‘n), we have known it, but what is the plague (al-ta‘un)? He said: "The stabbing of your enemies from the jinn, in every martyrdom." Ziyad said: I was not satisfied with his statement, so I asked the leader of the tribe, and he was with them, and he said: He spoke the truth; Abu Musa narrated it to us.
