Musnad Ahmad 788:45

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, and Ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah informed us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Abu 'Ubaydah, from Abu Musa—Ibn Ja'far said in his hadith: I heard Abu 'Ubaydah narrating from Abu Musa—he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah the Exalted extends His hand by night so that the sinner of the day may repent, and He extends His hand by day so that the sinner of the night may repent, until the sun rises from its place of setting."
