Hadith of Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari (RA)
Hadith 1007:107
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad—meaning Ibn Salamah—narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Khatmi informed us, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, that Abu Qatadah had a debt owed to him by a man, and he would come to him to demand payment, but the man would hide from him. One day he came, and a child came out, so he asked him about him. The child said: "Yes, he is in the house eating khazirah (a dish made of flour and meat)." So he called out to him: "O so-and-so, come out, for I have been informed that you are here." He came out to him, and he (Abu Qatadah) said: "What makes you hide from me?" He said: "I am in financial difficulty, and I have nothing." He said: "By Allah, are you in financial difficulty?" He said: "Yes." Abu Qatadah wept, then said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Whoever relieves his debtor or wipes away [the debt] for him, he will be in the shade of the Throne on the Day of Resurrection.'"
